Test Drive was designed by Takumi Tanaka, and developed by Pitbull Electronic Studio. Players must use the cards in the correct order.
Players can use special moves, which are cards that are used to create special effects. Race Duel mode features a dueling mechanic. In two-player mode, players can race against one another in either Race or Race Duel mode. These characters can be unlocked by collecting cards. Players can also race as various characters, such as a police officer, a Japanese yakuza, a communist guerrilla or a magician. Single-player mode is only available in Race mode, where the player races against the computer or another player. The game can be played in single-player or two-player mode.
